Tragically there have been genocides repeated throughout history. A few have been listed here, but populations and ethnic groups have been wiped out going as far back as biblical times. The Romans seemed to have knack for this, wiping out several European tribes, massacring significant numbers of Jews repeatedly, and later Christians.
They have gone by other names -- purges, cleansings, etc. Same result though. Armenia, Rwanda, the Balklands and Dar fur have been mentioned here already. One that you might want to add is the purges that happened in Russia while Stalin was in power, as many as 20 million people may have died during this period. Pol Pot's crimes in Cambodia is another example of genocide -- this occurred mostly in the 1970s.
The stunningly stupid and ignorant comment posted here earlier comparing the internment of the Japanese to the events of the Holocaust is offensive beyond description.

Not officially named because never acknowledged by the mainstream as the genocide it was, the decimation of the indigenous peoples of North America by European settlers absolutely is an example of a Holocaust-like event.

Russian / Soviet invasions of Chechnya, Stalin's mass deportations of Kazaks and Chechens during the second world war, the Soviet five year plans and collectivisation of farms during the 1930's.
Spanish invasion of Mexico and the use of Christianity as a civilising agent - the spread of Western diseases such as small pox and its effect on the native races of South America.
Some have compared the British settlements of Australia and white settlement as genocide, driving Aborigines away from their lands, and outright murder of Aborigines during the 1800's.
Genocide has so many different faces.
