The Civil War is considered to be the First Modern War because of Four Technological Leaps
#1-Repeating Weaponry, such as the Spencer Rifle, the Henry Rifle, and the Ammunition made for such weapons.
#2- The First use of Steampowered Iron clad Warships, such as the USS Monitor, and the CSS Virginia(the Merrimac)
#3- Indirect Lines of Communication such as the telegraph,Mass supply and troop movements by Railroad, and Observation of Enemy positions by Air(Balloons)
#4- Actual Combat Photography that brought the War"Home"
to many for the First time.Thank you Matthew Brady!
