& those 99 cent stores are a rip-off because the stores say 59, 79, 99 cents store, but when you go in there, you see stuff that's $1.19, $1.49, & sometimes $19.99.

LOL, NYC is full of little stores because of the location, it is hard to place a large building (like Walmart) in a crowed area like the metro area. If a 99 cent store buys the property, the chances are they won't let it go, because it is hard to set-up shop is highly populated areas due to them being good for business. The stores sell a lot of small items at 99 cents, but like a dollar store, it is not the limit, but mearly a name to imply the store is cheaper, or to appeal customers.

I have lived in NYC for many, many years and have asked myself the same question.
I have a found a new Wal-Mart in Yonkers, NY. If you are familiar with the Galleria Mall and remember where Sears was just a few blocks....well now that is a regular Wal-Mart.
Hope you can find it, it is very easy to get to. Have fun

New Yorkers do NOT want a Wal-Mart in Manhattan. Manhattan has millionaires and billionaries in the city, they do NOT want a Wal-Mart built here.
