Death Valley is really hot.
The San Diego Zoo is really fun.
Just about anywhere along the beach.
Take a drive up Highway 101.
Depends on what you consider a "hot spot". California is full of activity, things to discover and places to see. Humboldt in Northern Cali is gorgeous.
