Almost the same idea

It is called XAMPP (X=Cross platform, Apache, MySQL, PHP, PERL). XAMPP is available for Linux, MAC and Windows....hence the cross platform.

WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP)

XAMPP includes Perl as one of the CGI processors where wamp doesn't. WAMP is only for windows.

None, they both do the same, just a different method of packing it all together.
