alice in chains, soundgarden, nirvana, peral jam, the melvins, mudhoney....there all done. But are there any successors from them? post grunge era? I can't find any bands that sound like them. (aic and soundgarden) in particular.

There really aren't any bands that, in my opinion, sound like those guys. I loved that music back in the day but unfortunately, it seems like that sound is a thing of the past. There may be one or two newer bands that pop out with a similar sound...I'm not a huge fan but bands like Shinedown might be comparable but I'm really stretching it. Smashing Pumpkins are coming out with something new and there is always my fave, Tool.

Candlebox, Seven Mary Three, Black Stone Cherry, Days of the New, The Toadies, Shinedown, and Seether all have been influenced by grunge. You can also go on Wikipedia, there's probably a list of them.

(Most of the bands I mentioned aren't current, but they're still good. Like I said, Wikipedia.)

Actually Shinedown does a really good Soundgarden impersonation, in fact the singer sounds more like Chris Cornell than Chris Cornell has lately.
