It depends on the type of monkey you have in mind. There are two different types of monkeys: Old World Monkeys and New World Monkeys. Like the names suggest, Old World Monkeys live in Africa and South-east Asia. New World Monkeys like in Central and South America.
If you are thinking about apes (gorilla, bonobo, chimp, orangutan, gibbon, siamang), they live in Africa and South-east Asia. If you are thinking about lemurs (like the one with the ring-tail), they live only in Madagascar. Lorises and tarsiers (the cute fuzzy ones that kind of look like gremlins before they get wet) are from Africa and South-east Asia.

(L)
Spider monkeys live in evergreen rainforests, semi deciduous and mangrove forests, almost never coming to the ground. In these forests they live mostly in the upper canopy, preferring undisturbed high forest. They will be found in other forest types if habitat is limited, hunting pressure light and other primate competitors are not present. They are more flexible than their South American primate cousins in habitat adaptation.
