I have a very complicated marriage ending & am in desperate need of an Excellent divorce lawyer (knowing criminal law, INS info & domestic abuse would be wonderful also). I have asked friends - no help. Called Legal aid - referred to Missouri Bar & got a name. Duh?? This is a matter that affects my entire future - any suggestions!

There are several places in which you can investigate and search for attorneys. My recommendations is searching several different lawyer websites and making an educated decision based upon the information you gather. You may want to take 2 or 3 attorneys meet with each and make your final decision.

The links are below. Good luck and i wish you the best!

You obviously do not move in the right circles. My friends could tell you exactly which lawyer they used for which divorce. Word of mouth is still the best source of advertising there is. Keep asking, almost every lawyer knows who the good ones are.

The only thing divorce lawyers do is to keep both sides arguing and going to court so that they can make more money. See if your state has arbitration and work it out that way. You may be better off in the end.

talk to your friends. you have to know SOMEONE who is divorced. or they do. that's how word gets around about divorce attorneys anyway. then you can see from the actual clients if they were satisfied with the service or not.
