other than sending it in for service, because i don't know my date of purchase.

Let it sit for a while. If there's any chance your iPod might be wet, the worst thing you can do is turn it on before it dries, which will simultaneously destroy your iPod and void your warranty. If after waiting a while it's still not turning on/responding when you hook it up to your computer, then I think you should send it in for service - there's not much else you can do.

If you go to the Apple support page, putting your serial number will tell you your date of purchase as well as letting you know what the deal is with your warranty, and if you have one.

i;ve dropped mine a gazillion times and seem to still be holding on, however if even plugging it onto the computer doesnt turn it on or if the comp doesnt detect it, its probably dead

sounds like you got it wet so try just leaveing it alone for a little while, if that doesnt work then its probaly dead

have you tried hooking it up to the computer and like erasing everything on it? that worked with mine once
