it should be sore for a while. but you should be able to stop infection by keeping it really clean. pretty much everyone i know swears by the H2O ocean spray

It depends on whether the redness has gotten better or worse since the piercing, as well as the pain. It can be tender and red for a week or so, but if you think the redness hasn't improved at all since the piercing, or has gotten slightly worse, then it's probably infected. Make sure you aren't using any alcohol or peroxide. The best is bactine, which you can get at any drugstore and target. Make sure you are regularly cleaning and turning it. And I would also take an antihistamine just to be sure your nose is dry. I would clean it 6-8 times a day for the next 4 days, then 4-5 times for the next 3 days, and then just 3times a day as the redness and tenderness goes down. Even if it is infected, you can fix it. It is very common for a piercing to get infected when you first get it. Your skin and the surrounding area has to get used to it and the open wound. Just be sure to keep it cleaned and turned.

It's normal for your nose to still be sore and red however, WATCH FOR DRAINING of any kind, also darker discoloration. Even itching. That's usually a sign that it's getting well - but you have to make sure you keep your hands away. Hands carry more bateria than any other part of the body. When you comb your hair, make sure oils and hair don't stray - pat area dry and keep it moisterized according to the instructions. (I hope you checked out first what type of skin you have - a lot of times people pierce first - and then discover they have keloid skin or some other kind of bacterial infection which might irritate the area,.

Since putting foreign objects into your nose is abnormal that sounds perfectly normal to me and getting infected would be a very possible result.

Completely normal.. mine was sore for two weeks and red for one week.. however keep an eye on it and if it develops a scab or starts secreting pus then I would go to the piercer and ask them about it :)
