You missed weed, and as far as I understand the term connotation. Other than HEMP most of them refer to the same thing. HEMP can be the plant, the product(not necessarily the narcotic version) and perhaps the rope.

"Connotation" means what does the word SUGGEST or denote, first thing...so...what do the words make you think of right when you read them?

Here are my first impulses/thoughts...hope they help:

1. Hemp

Denotes hippies and wannabe conservationists (trying to use it as an alternative source to EVERYTHING!). Makes me think of clothing, ropes, brown necklaces, hairy legs, tie-dye, etc...

2. Cannabis

More formal name for Marijuana. Brings to mind journalistic articles of people vying for support and or rejection of acceptance of marijuana smoking and/or benefits/harm of it.

3. Ganga

Makes me think of a Jamaican...particularly one who shares his stash.

4. Pot

Greasy teenagers trying to score. Oppositely, it also makes me think of the lingo parents use when trying to be "hip" while they talk to their kids about not smoking it...

Did I help you get started at all? With connotations, start with what the word makes YOU think of first. Then, try to back up with concrete definitions, CONTEXT clues, and examples from OTHER professional sources. It will make your assumptions more legitimate (at least in the eyes of your teacher) because he/she will see you've tried to back up and prove your initial thoughts/ideas (rather than just making stuff up or shouting out random answers or suggestions).

If you need help...try to find sentences or paragraphs from others in which the words were used. For example...if you think "hemp" denotes hippies and that "artsy/crafty" movement, find an article about that subject, and one that uses the word "hemp" in it.
