Dell is my recommendation for reasonable prices and great warranty. 3 years of tech support and accidental damage insurance is maybe $300 total. But I would also recommend HP over any of your other choices, simply because they're a bigger name and Toshiba's are very expensive for the specs they have. HP also has reasonably priced warranties.

As far as specs, get at least 1gig ram, preferably 2gigs, around 150gb hard drive, dual core, with a name brand graphics card like Nvidia or ATI (the cheapo Intel integrated cards will not play any new games and will play old games terribly.

Maybe look into a MacBook or other type of Mac if you're really looking for multimedia functionality and can get used to the MacOS.

Although you wanted Vista, you can get a MacOS laptop which are really nice. With the new Vista program I'm not sure if Mac started to allow Vista along with Windows on their computers yet.

But if you don't want to go with Mac, I would go with the Toshiba. They are defiantly the best brand for laptops. HP is a good computer company in general but they lack in the laptop department, which they are defiantly fixing with their new line of laptops coming out.
