the problem with the show is that you tend to vote for a person less likely to make it over someone you're sure that many people will vote for, and like in the case of Chris Daughtry, everybody figured he was already a shoe in so why bother voting for him, and the next thing you know, he gets the boot. if you were voting for the person you thought was the pits, then the ones with talent would hang on a little longer.

apparently some people can't read, so i'll reitterate, i think they need to change the voting so you'd vote off the person you think performed the worst that night, rather than voting for the person you thought did the best. it would make for better candidates in the finale.

As in the case of Chris Daughtry, that is why you have to vote for your favorite. No one is safe. The only sure thing on American Idol is that there is no sure thing.
As far as a person you thought was bad, I don't know why you should vote for someone that bad. The only reason I could think happened three years ago with Jasmine Trias. When Simon ripped her she started crying, thinking she was going home. I think that led to a lot of sympathy votes which led to a better contestant (Latoya London) getting the boot. So if I were to ever vote for a bad person, it's only because I felt sorry for them. But I'd never do that because I actually want the best person to win.
