of course. but you don't really have to label them. buy what you like. but punk is in between. you dont have to go insane with the random colored hair, just a few chains and plaid. i dont usually stereotype but you could be "emo". its just band tees, converse, arm bands, etc etc. its more relaxed than punk or goth. i get called emo a lot because there is a portion of my clothes that isn't abercrombie and fitch. but presuming your older i guess people don't call you pointless names like emo. oh and also congrats on the weight loss

I can understand what you mean about 'trendy' and I'm happy for your weight loss - that's good going into the spring. Finally, only you can really decide what direction you want to go in, SInce you are going shopping - make sure you make a list of various stores you want to peek in. You can always ask a salesperson what's new for spring. It took me a long time to wean myself out of black pants - because always go with everything - but I put culture into my clothing and mix it up. I like African bold colors and big styles - dashiki, full tops, big earrings - but I teach and I do that - in your corporate world you have to think semi-conservative and you can't spring too loudly on them. I'll never forget the day I walked into the corporate office of a job I was working at. I was the only black who had ever been hired in the company's 25 year history. It was casual Friday - and I had on a pair of money green pants, long stretch with a long, wool pleated top that went to my hips. Gold hoop earrings and low, flat penny loafers - That night, I washed my hair and let it frizz up and picked it out for a nice shaped afro. I had a nice yellow and green hair band that I turned to the side. I thought I was sharp. Later, they told me - casual to "them" was black pants, white top and matching jacket - You could have heard me laughing all the way to the restroom. Needless to say, they changed their dress code to include jeans, tops and everything over the years. So, be careful about the shock effect.

Congrats on the weight loss and don't worry about trendy...buy things that you like, fit well and look good on you and you can't go wrong. Good quality and "classic" looks are always in style...that's why they're called classic, and that doesn't always have to mean conservative. Add "hip" accessories like belts and jewelry and wear cute shoes and bag in seasonal/fashionable colors and you will always look like a million bucks!

You don't need "trendy" clothing, e.g. belts slung over hips, skinny pants, and T-shirts with stupid sayings, like "If I was a Richie girl." Go for the timeless look and wear collared (polo) shirts, pencil-legged pants, and an accessory (but don't overdo it!), like maybe a pair of pearl earrings or a gold bracelet. During cold days, wear pea coats and cute boots. Occasionally wear a sundress (if the weather's warm) or a skirt with classy black stockings. You won't look like a teenage girl, and you'll look great.
Good luck with your fashion. Hope I helped!

Wear classic clothes. Black is always in, skinny jeans, sweaters, shirts that aren't trendy. and if you want to spice up your non-trendy wardrobe, do it with jewelery, shoes, and purses. and please do not go gothic...it's not the right answer!!!!
