Do you say underwear, undies, underpants, or my least favorite, panties. Or do you refer to them by the type underwear like calling them boyshorts, thongs, etc. Does who you're talking to affect what you call them? Like do you use different words when you're around boys than when you're with your friends?

I definitely change the name depending on who I am talking to. If I am talking to a guy, I refer to them as panties or thong because if I just call it underwear, I feel like the guy is going to automatically get this image in his mind of huge underwear. When I'm talking to my mom or my sister, I call them undies. When I refer to my bra and panties as a set, I call them underwear.

I say undies, and sometimes panties, because I spent half my life in a different country where they say "panties" instead of underwear. I don't really say anything else when I'm talking to boys, because I have guy friends that aren't all spiffy and uncomfortable around girls and they don't get creeped out when somebody brings up underwear.

Well, first of all - I don't know that I'd be talking 'undies' around boys - but in times when you have to have conversations and you are timid to call by name - I have used "unmentionables" and people usually know what they are - or you can just say 'undergarments" . That's a classy way to put it.

I call them unmentionables. I don't like to talk about undergarments at home because my son gets all giggly (he's 11) so that's what I call them.

i call them underwear and it really annoys me when people especially men, call them panties. none of my girlfriends or any other of my female peers call them panties.
