It's no big deal and I don't think the person is copying it..my cousins name is Angela..but ever since I was a little girl I liked that name, so I know I will name my future daughter this.

I think it's a little odd that they wouldn't be more creative with their child's name. Especially if the girls are close in age.
When I was a week away from my due date, I was driving down my street and a neighbor I didn't know had a stork in their front yard. I glanced at it and saw that they had just named their baby boy the same uncommon name that I had picked out for my future son! It made me upset (I blame it on the hormones, because it was only coincidence!) but now I laugh about it!

no, my best friend and i were pregnant at the same time.. I'd picked out 3 names i liked and my hubby chose from that list. my best friend saw the list and really loved one of the names and used it for her daughter.. if we have another girl later on we may still use that name. Its also a family name for me as it was my grandmothers middle name. I'd rather have a friends baby with the same name than someone who i couldn't stand.

What if the person liked the name a long time before either of them had kids? Why should she change it because someone she knows named her child that?

Not necessarily. If parents like a name for their child, why should they not give that name to their child just because an acquaintance has given their child that name?

Well, I know someone that did that but think about it, Are you going to know this child in 20 years from now? Probably not unless they are a family member.

No, thats fine, it could be as a nice gesture towards that person. Or it could be they just like that name. I knew a family that everyone in the family had the same middle name "Marie" even the boys.

They probably just really liked the name. I agree though - it does show a big lack of imagination on their part, but hey... we all know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Feel good that you chose it first. ;-)

well they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! i guess they really liked your name or they have no imagination of their own.nothing you can do about it.just smile and go on.it really is pretty tacky but thats the way it goes.good luck with your own child.
