Im 37 weeks pregnant, and yesturday at the doctors she told me I am 3cm dialated. Ive been having contractions sense yesturday afternoon, and for the past 4 hours ive been having contractions every 45 mins apart lasting around 60 seconds, and now there starting to get closer together and a little stronger. My mom made me goto the emergency room just a little while ago because this is my first child and the doctor yesturday said it was coming silently and would be anyday now. But at the emergency room they said they couldnt find my cervix and basically said I was making everything up. Should I goto my hospital ( its a 45min to and hour drive) or should I wait and see what happens? I dont get any answers at the hospital here.

Honestly, everyone is different. I have no idea if you have lost your mucus plug or not, and for my first, I had contractions fifteen minutes apart for the entire day, on her birthday. They will get stronger...but if you believe, for a minute, that you have released ANY fluid...even less than a cup (my daughter's head went up against the cervix and formed a fore-bag.) you should get into your obgyn's office (or the hospital--especially at night) and have a litmus test done. You could be like you are for a while; a couple of days. The people at the emergency room--sometimes I have to wonder about people. Relax. The baby will get here...its too bad that you don't have another hospital...you may just go into your local obgyn's office. I had a certified midwife...but I was very lucky that I didn't have any serious trouble. I wish you lots of luck!! You may have had brackston hicks. You will have your baby soon:-)

My real labor contractions have always started about 15-20 minutes apart and felt like weak menstrual cramps. Only my Braxton's have ever been spaced 45 minutes apart. Real labor contractions will get longer, stronger and closer together and they will finally get to where you have to concentrate on them...you will have a hard time talking through them and stuff. I see someone told you to wait at home until your water breaks, but most moms to be don't have their water break until they are very much into labor. Don't wait for that. Go when the contraction are hurting you. Also they will be felt more in your back like period cramps whereas BH's are felt mostly in the front.

I don't know what's up with those doctors that can't find your cervix...HUH?????? That's NUTTY!!!!!!

I would wait. Too many women rush to the hospital and are sent home because they aren't in labor yet. If you go really early, you will have to spend all your time in a hospital bed listening to other women have their babies. Your first baby will most likely be a long one, and trust me, you'd rather spend most of it at home. You will know when you are really having that baby! I lived an hour from the hospital I delivered at and my doctor told me to wait until the contractions are 10 minutes apart. When we lived closer, she said wait until they are 3-5 minutes apart. You've got some time...get in a nap and some healthy food so you are ready for the big challenge ahead of you! Best of luck!

They might have meant that they thought you were having false contractions, perhaps. When I was pregnant, I went into the hospital thinking that I was going into labor only to be sent home one time too, so don't feel bad. When we're expecting, we tend to get a bit anxious! The rule of thumb my doctor had for me was that unless my water had broken or if my contractions were five minutes or less in between each one to stay home. At 3 cm dilated it can be any day or it might be another week or two! Try to relax, put your feet up and have hubby give you a foot and hand massage.

sweetie i would wait a little while, watch the contractions and whenthe get closer to gether(but not the 3-5 minutes because it's a 45-60 min drive) but just wait and see if they continue to get stronger and closer together or if your water breaks then by all means go. Or if you just want to put your mind at ease go, they can't not check you or they can't turn you away. Could you call your Ob to see what they advise you to do? i wish you the best and good luck

I have never had a baby put I would go to YOUR hospital/doctor because he has been working with you and knows what you have been through and whats going on and the other doctors dont. I think its worth the drive if you baby could be coming any day now!!! I think the fact that they said you where making it up is crap. Thats RUDE. I had a blood pressure episode and it got 160 over 90 and they didnt believe me and I was really upset... why would someone make that kinda stuff up? lol sorry that set me off. Good luck with your baby! God Bless!

They couldn't find your cervix? That's a load of crock!! I'm sorry they treated you like that.

I would wait at home a little longer. Wait until they get a LITTLE stronger and a LITTLE closer together. First children's births are going to be longer than others. Hospitals are just great at turning you away because you're not really in labor.

You're not making this up, and they know that. Wait until your water at least breaks. I know it's going to be tough, but try walking around and just relaxing.

I think that you should take the drive and go to your hospital. They couldn't find your cervix?? What kind of health care professionals are they anyway?? That doesn't make any sense. Yeah, if your Dr said that it could be anytime, then go ahead and make your way to the other hospital. Good luck honey! I hope that things go well!

yeah I would go in to be safe because you don't want to have the baby at home or in the car I would go in and have the Dr check you because once you get to the hospital they will hook you up to a monitor and keep you for an hour before they decide to keep you and then by then you may be ready or you could be ready by time you get there. Good luck and congratulation on the soon to be baby
