a bear is pretty big ,and it is probably illegal to own one
they need a lot of territory to gather food or a river to fish in
or they will eat you out of house and home
i go with the other guy and say get a teddy bear

black bears can be cute if you have thenm from a cub
but often these large wild animals get grumpy and dangerous when old ,and then you cant let them free any more because they dont know how to look after themselves in the forrest
if they have not had their mothers to teach them.

bears are wild animals and are not meant to be pets under ANY circumstances. You would need many permits to be able to legally have a bear in your possesion. You would not be able to attain one easily, especially if you want to raise a bear just because you think it's "cool". I agree with one of the other answerers....get a teddy bear.

First of all, you have to keep in mind that all bears, no matter what the species, is dangerous. But, I would have to say the Asian Spectacle bear. Or a younger polar bear. They'll be needing' homes soon.

Unfortunately, to raise a bear you need a special government license. I think you should visit a zoo and talk to one of the zoo keepers. Be sure to ask him *lots* of questions, because he or she is supposed to answer 100 questions every day, and 10 of them have to be new!

Please don't do that. Bears are wild animals & not meant to live in a domesticated environment.
