One must understand what 2012 represents. It was the last year of the Mayan calender. The Mayans never stated what was to come at the end of the calender. Even though the calender is just over 5,000 years old and had a ending date unlike all other calender's. As to the end of the world, It was never said. Also as far a Jesus coming back 2012 the Maya's never knew a Jesus when they mathematical made the calender. Before there was a Jesus there was the SUN. Since the beginning of man people worshiped the Sun that gave them warmth and light. The Maya's had other deities also. The Maya's where a very intelligent group of people, And the night sky scape was one they lived for. They divided the days of the year into seasons and the days of the seasons into months. And based the months on constellations they seen in the night heavens to form the Zodiac. But to all the above it is an extreme study you will need to be very open minded. And if you fear GOD the father, do not look into this any farther. To us the 2012 date is nothing. And the only end to man is the one we make of it. We the people of earth will destroy our-self's before some meteor ever hits us.

Actually coincidentally enough the Mayans predicted some type of cataclysim during February of that year. But...in the words of the immortal Iron Maiden:

"...The truth of all predictions is always in your hands..."

Actually there are far more funds going toward tracking near-earth asteroids and comets than some might suspect, though certainly we can't ever have enough.

Honestly though, worrying about something like that is like worrying about being struck by lightning. It might happen tomorrow, it might never happen, worrying will only cause you to have a heart attack before it does.

And dont forget the channel has a vested interest in sensationalizing events like this, true- what they are saying is possible- but if they reported that all was calm in the universe no one would watch the show.

Answer Theroy 2:We will destoy ourselves before any meteor. Astronomers have stated for many years a very large meteor with apocalyptic abilities was headed torwards us, its 2007, where the heck is it man?!

Answer Theroy 3: (Reverting back to Theroy 2...) The current way we are headed with the war, a mass scale nuclear war will be coming soon.

Thats all I've got....

When the sun dies which will be 4 million years from now. During that time the sun will get hotter and hotter and cook the Earth so that nothing can live on it and humans will have to find another planet to live on. The sun will then go into a white dwarf and completely destroy the solar system.

Don't worry you'll be OK for 2 or 3 hundred years.
That is us,but the earth will likely carry on for a few more billions of years and then succumb to the atmosphere of the expanding sun.

We will probally all be wiped out, but the chances of it happening in your lifetime are slim, then again with bush...hum, well just rest assured, we have enough nukes to remove the crust of the earth, and those are more likely to be used than a massive comet hitting the earth and turning it into gibs.

Such tv shows are sensationlized gimmicks. Remember how Nostradamus was supposed to have predicted that Rome would be destroyed in 1997? Now we have an ancient civilisation which was supposed to have predicted the end of the world in 2012. No proof of course. To prove is to prove beyond all doubt with no exceptions. The producers of these end of world specials are cunning business men who want you to be addicted to their station, in my opinion, and they do a good job of it.

No-one knows. We've only discovered and tracked a fraction of the bodies in the solar system which cross the Earth's orbit. A mass-extinction-scale event could happen tomorrow or it could be another 100 million years. My suggestion is to lobby your political leaders to financially support the search for earth-crossing bodies. They need it.
