I assume you are talking about a seasonal home where you want to prevent the pipes from freezing up in the winter. You don't need to alter the plumbing. You can shut off the house main and open the faucets. If there are stop and waste fittings on the valves open them too. Then flush the toilets. Then pour automobile antifreeze into all of the drains. That should do it.

At the lowest point, after the main shut-off (towards the house), install a tee in the line with a valve on it. When you want/need to drain the system, turn off the main shut-off, open a faucet in the house (to prevent air lock) and open the new valve.

Shut the water off at the street and add a valve. Most houses have a hose bib at the main entry. Hard to give exact advice not having seen your set-up.
