The name of the whole country would have to be renamed--the etymology of the word 'america' comes from the name of an Italian--the explorer Amerigo Vespucci who first developed the idea that the lands he discovered in the west were, in fact, a continent. Which is why America actually should refer to the entire continent, and 'Americans' are, (as many of my Latino friends insist) quite justifiably those who come from or live on that continent, not just the good ol' US of A.

NONE!!
We have nothing against the use of spanish, the only thing we do NOT like are the ILLEGALS!!
And, why should we cater to just ONE group of people, when there are MANY nationalities that live in this country??!!
It's not JUST mexicans in this country, you know!! And it would COST way too much to accomodate them ALL!!
The language of this country has ALWAYS been ENGLISH!!!! Why should we change it for ILLEGALS or anyone else??!!

None I'm tired of seeing bilingual ads, forms etc. This nation is a land of immigrants. My ancestors from Holland learned English. "Legally" immigrate here speak the language, not much to ask.

None. BTW, a xenophobe is someone who is afraid of strangers. Your question seems to concern language only. Most immigrants who came to America learned English right away, and were proud to be Americans. Now, I can't stand walking through Target or Sears and hearing announcements made in Spanish, or seeing every sign in both Spanish and English.

Technically, all of them. English is derived from latin so if we ban that, we don't have a language. Seriously though, almost all of them.

I think the point with immigration is that people are coming here against our laws and wishes and forcing us to change our culture to suit them.
I think we have a right to love our language and culture. I think its fair that we want to preserve and promote our own culture against unwanted influences from the outside.
Now, when we CHOOSE to adopt words from other languages or name our Sates thus, it is our own choice, a very different situation indeed.

So, only xenophobes support speaking one language? Is that right? I guess that would mean that Latin America is xenophobic, right? Or many other nations who only speak one language? Man! This is one xenophobic planet we live on! Better watch out, when you travel to other countries. You might get killed or something by a xenophobe.
