I am considering moving there, as my sister has offered me to live in her house she owns there because she lives in Texas. I would like to know what there is to do there, what kind of work, how are the people, and so forth. I appreciate all imput and opinions. I am also considering another place and can not make up my mind. Thanks so much

I've lived in Tulsa since 1979. My company transferred me here from NY. Talk about culture shock! In all those years, I've noticed a wonderful change in Tulsans' minds. Instead of being territorial and hostile, they embrace people from other areas now. A lot of companies have headquarters here. If you have a marketable skill, you should have no trouble finding a job. Since you already have a place to live, I can only say that compared to LA and NY, the standard of living here is superior. Your dollar will go farther. We have lower utility bills, gas prices, food cost (except that I wasn't used to paying tax on "real" food in NY). There is an unusually high rate of violent crime here--not what one would expect from the Bible Belt. We even have gangs here. The town is split into areas of ethnic division: blacks on the north side, whites on the south, Hispanics on the east. The west side is Jeff Foxworthy territory. ;) Socially, there're lots of clubs to join; we have a philharmonic orchestra, opera, theater company, expo center, concert places, etc. We have nice malls with almost all the biggies from Saks to Dollar General! Never heard of Dustin, OK. By the way, I met my husband in 1980 and have been living happily ever after, so Tulsa's been good to me. If you need more specific info, I'll try to help answer your questions.
