That depends on what state you are talking about. Some states have 8% tax - 8 cents on a dollar.

federal income tax
state and local income tax
property tax
fuel tax
sales tax
utilities tax (phone electric gas water sewer)
tobacco tax
motor vehicle tax
I've probably missed some but this is a good start.

noone can tell you since it is diff in every state
in my state the state sales tax rate is 6.5%, but my county adds an extra .5%
