For important receipts, ones you may need when you have something repaired on warranty, etc., staple them to the warranty booklet and file them in a file cabinet under the name of the item (ie. computer, ipod, toaster oven, etc.)

For the less important ones, I have a 3 ring binder that I keep throughout the year. It is separated in alphabetical order (you can get these pre-printed at staple business depot, etc). In each section, I have a plastic sleeve protector. I keep my receipts in these. It works... I've never lost a receipt that I needed. And I need them, as I often will buy something that is on sale that I may use only months down the line. I'll sell it to a client in a decor and easily have the receipt on hand for proof for the client.

I store them in the trash can. If I need it later - oh well. I really can't believe that everyone thinks we should keep receipts for everything we buy.

Hire a file clerk.

On big items, I usually slip them into a zipper lock baggy, and tape them to the back. Can use large brown envelopes marked Household, Clothing, Food, Utility's, Car, and so on.

Put your receipts in a nice pile and clip them together.
After that put it in a zip lock bag
Then store it somewhere that is a organized place or a place you'll remember it!
