no other administration in the history of this country has systematically done more to squash freedom of speech than the bush administration. it is such a contradiction that they and those that still support his beliefs claim to be the only patriots and everyone else are liberal commies. to speak out against them is to either bring the wrath of their assaults or censorship.yes with them you can say what ever you want to say just as long it is what they want to hear. do other wise and they will sic the queen of insults on you (ANN COULTER). HECK i am probably flirting with being banned from this very forum just for exposing this, especially if yahoo is operated and ran by left wing conservatives. if so then you probably will never get to read this post. WHAT HYPOCRISY INDEED!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, they claim to be protecting our freedom by pissing on the bill of rights, although they have not really restricted the freedom of speech other than calling all dissenters "unAmerican" and "unpatriotic"
Speaking out against what the government is doing is the most patriotic duty of any American. It is the whole reason behind the first amendment, nor to protect our right to swear or have sex on TV or anything of that nature. The intent of the First amendment was to give us the ability to question the actions of our government without fear of reprisal, however, this doesn't really include name calling and false accusations, which some on the far left have resorted to.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

So exercise your patriotic rights. Speak up, whether for or agianst what the Bush administration and congress do. Make your voice be heard, attend rallies, contact your senator and congressmen, and not only vote, learn about he candidates and issues and THEN vote. Your vote is worthless if you do not know what you are voting for.
God Bless America and may we get a better president the next time around.

As a conservative, I found Ann Coulter's remarks out of bounds and rude. She has every right to say what she did under the First Amendment, but, as with the liberals who have been attacked have had to do, she will have to face the consequences of her words. I take it quite personally when people lump me in with others as a "conservative" and call me a hypocrite (by the way, conservatives are "right wing", not left). The President has endured unending criticism the likes of which should NEVER be acceptable for any President, liberal or conservative. Accusations abound, with no EVIDENCE, just plenty of conspiracy theories. As wish plenty of other situations faced throughout history, he has been tried and convicted in the court of "public opinion" and facts just too irritating to be allowed into the process.

You have "exposed" nothing but your own ignorance. I know plenty of liberals, whose beliefs I do not share, that I would call patriots on any given day. I also know conservatives who simply follow the "party" and do not think for themselves, but are also patriots. This administration has not squashed "freedom of speech". The fact is, many people making accusations in print have been gui;lty of libel and had nothing happen to them. The assaults on conservatives have been quite aggressive and demeaning, so the negative actions and so-called "hypocrisy" is evenly distributed along BOTH lines.

Hardcore liberals cannot stand a conservative in office. Hardcore conservatives do not like a liberal in office. Maybe one day, we'll actually have an AMERICAN in office...and AMERICANS will treat him / her with the respect and dignity that the office (not the person) deserves. I won't be holding my breath on that one though.

The definitive quote on the assessment of the Bush Adm, its deceit and acceptance is said by Barney Frank " The only one that are fooled are those that want to be fooled'

I hear you! If I post a question with Dick Cheney's name in it, Y/A delays the question so that it doesn't get posted until it is old and nobody sees it. It's not censor, but rather a manipulation of free speech. Curious, and so?

i agree, but you might want to tone it down a bit or else people wont take you seriously

this country was founded on the rights of the people to be unpatriotic towards the government if they so desire

if we had to be patriotic all the time, how would problems get fixed?

Me being a conservative/libertarian, I think you aurgument gets lost when you say "worse ever" and make yourself appear to be some victim. When debating politics, stick to the facts and rule out the overblown statements.

You sound very confused. The President isn't stopping you from voicing your opinions and I'm sorry if someone in Yahoo answers has deleted your questions or answers.
This is still the U.S.A.
