I have WIndows xp professional and i cave call waiting on my phone ect?

Question

Last month my husband called me when i was on the computer and a box prompted saying you have a call would you like to take the call well i never put a program in to my computer to detect the call and to prompt the box but it was nice to have. My husband tried to call me today and the box did not prompt up why, i did not down load any special program to do that and i did not delete or disable any programs , did the phone company some how send that pop up. I don't get it. Or does xp have a auto detector for incoming calls that i don't know of.

there would have been no free trial soft wear on computer at the time to my knowlege cause computer was freshly formated and fresh copy of windows xp installed with service pack 2

I had it when I still had dial-up and love it...your phone company might gave you a promo....I payed 3.50 a month, and also got a free fax number with it...which was really nice....I payed yearly, hence only 3.50

I don't know of anything other than maybe you had a free trial of some program and now its over.You can purchase a external device called catch a call to alert you when you have an incoming call..hope this helps
