My 7 year old son and I made up a short book together I typed it on the computer and then he drew the pictures for it. He loves reading it to family and friends!
When we have left over cardboard boxes I cut them into a shield or sword and he loves to paint or use markers on them if you have a girl you could cut a doll or animal outline, For Christmas we did a tree used the glue gun and put buttons and beads on it he enjoyed it alot!
We also scrapbook he loves using my picture doubles cutting ,gluing and placing stickers on colored paper he has a binder that he has as his personal scrapbook! Good Luck

I found they loved to play what I call the "math game." Team them up, count them off, assigning a number to each individual on each team, so there will be two sets of 1's, 2's, 3's.... Then call the pair of "1's" up and have them at each end of the board. Give a current math problem and the first one who does it correctly wins a point for their team. (No one in "audience" can cause any assisatnace whatsoever.) If they both miss it, call up the 2's and so on... They LOVE it. And it's quick to explain!

These games aren't really educational but they are certainly fun. I would suggest 7-up or Graveyard.
