Call the airline and ask about gate checking it. Meaning, you walk with it up to the door of the plane, and airline staff takes it from you, tags it, and it goes right under the plane, but you get it back at the destination gate.

Sometimes, you can take the seat onto the plane without the extra ticket.
If the plane isn't full, the flight attendents will often jiggle things so that you can have an extra seat, so your son can sit in his carseat in it.
So, it is very worth it to gate check your carseat. Gate checking means bringing it all the way to the door of the plane, and then it will be taken to the underbelly.
You can get a special bag (a car seat carry bag) or use a duffel for protection.

you can put a plastic bag around it to keep it clean. if you want to bring it on the plane you have to buy a ticket for the baby which is a total waste of money. i had a carseat go under the plane and it didnt come out dirty or anything, maybe i was just lucky.

i've got seen people do it the two techniques. you could deliver forth a stroller (they'll stow it on the gate) loaded up with the cumbersome carseat and toddler, or have him take a seat on your lap. deliver toys and snacks to maintain him busy, and verify whoever is on the aisle seat won't enable him out of the row. arise a pair of circumstances to stroll decrease back to the washing room with him, if turbulence enables you to. in effortless terms ingredient i've got seen artwork, is a lot of events for them to play with. He in all probability would not tolerate the entire experience with a automobile seat besides, right? as long as you carry him for take off and touchdown, and whilst the seat belt sign is on, it is going to likely be advantageous...

Everytime we have taken ours the airline puts it in a plastic bag. That is the best bet-if you aren't sure they will do it, do it yourself.

try removing the cloth cover and putting it in your carry-on bag. If not try putting it in a large duffle bag.
