According to Wikipedia, "the average Joe" aged 25 or older, makes $32,000 a year. At $17.30/hour, if you work 40 hours per week, you're making more than that!!!!

Now, to find out more area specific data, you can look up your area's census at http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/index.html.

I'm not sure about the nursing field but if you're raking in close to $20pmh then I'd recommend you stick with that job before you find yourself wishing you hadn't gone looking around lol.

It's one of those things, there might be better pay out there, but how long does it last, what's it like to work for the people there, is the work load tolerable... All these and other factors should be considered as well, so if you don't mind it too much then I'd stick with it, but that's just me.

All you really have to do is set up a budget where you can stick aside around $500 / month and before you know it, you'll wonder what to do with all your money lmao.

This amazes me. I have read every posted answer and people, despite the economy, the broken promises and failing social security, people continue to endorse jobs. $17.30 is not a lot of money, but maybe it pays for your necessities. However, the reality is that no matter how much you get as an employee, you are UNDERPAID! Think about this. Remove yourself from the situation and think about your daughter. What type of things do you want for her? If, God-forbid, something happened to you, what would you leave for her? No j.o.b.s will provide your daughter with the lifestyle she deserves if you are unable to provide for her.

Should you be looking for a better job? Maybe. Should you be looking for a better way? Definately. However, most people will receive advice from people who are in situations that they do not want to be in. Broke people are always providing advice on how not to be broke. Hmmm. Is this logical? If someone is not where you want to be in life, don't listen to them. Find someone who has the results you want in life and ask THEM for advice.

Best wishes...

If I were you I'd start looking for another job......With a degree in nursing you should be making more.......Don't quit until you find something.......You may have to think about moving to a more urban area where you can make some money..........Look on-line at some of the hospitals in your area or beyond that.......
Good Luck...........

You should be making closer to $30-40 per hour even with you just out of college. You are getting robbed. Find another job FAST!!

That sounds like good pay to me. I don't get that much and three other people I work with have 4-yr. degrees and don't get that much. You could probably get more in New York City, but you would pay a lot more rent too.
