I would say so. I got a nasty cold and the only thing they let me use was vicks vapo rub. It helped tremendously.
So, I would say yes, but if ur still questioning it, then call your local nurse line and ask them.

Absolutely. But I found that putting dabs of the actual Vicks rub just under my nostrils, combined with a plain old vaporizer/humidifier worked better than having just a vaporizer that gave off menthol fumes.
