1- Disagree, The United States had and still have a policy of "control" ( not "containment" ) they had there nose to deep in another regions business, the term " containment " was the media spin provided for the public.

2- Agreement ? ( not ) The Soviets played the U.S.A at there own game, verbal rhetoric, and scared the S.H ** out of the rest of the world doing so, There was no agreement, The U.S.A backed down real fast, and once again feed the American public a real honey coated story of how there government saved the world, Total B.S.

Interesting note: The U.S.A would not find out, until many years later just how little, and how unreliable the missile capabilities of the soviets was at that time.

3- The true domino theory is the ability of the U.S.A. to stick its face were it does not belong, time after time, after time.

Was it a good reason ?? my Gawd, Vietnam......

It was a flat out, full fledged slaughter of American youth drafted into the forces by there own government into a war that was logistically imposable to control, never mind win.

Once again, More Government B.S. > Did the president of the day, or his media spin masters come up with >>

" Peace With Honor " , The real meaning being,, time to pack our bags and get the hell out of here. We Lost The War.

3. The United States governments’ policy of containment hoped to stop the spread of communism. Although the U.S. opposed colonialism by France in Indochina they also did not want it to become communist. With the fall of China to communism and the invasion of South Korea by the communist North President Truman backed military aid to the French in Indochina in hopes of stopping communist expansion. Later, President Eisenhower described the domino theory that used the analogy of dominoes. If one country fell to communism the surrounding countries would also fall.

After the defeat of the French at Dien Bien Phu the United States supported a anti-communist regime in South Vietnam first with military and economic aid and later with advisors and American troops. 58,000 American lives were lost, over 300,000 Americans were wounded and an estimated 1.9 million military and civilian deaths occurred during the Vietnam War throughout Indochina. This conflict was and is one of the most controversial wars in United States History.
