I am overweight and I started using a treadmill 2 weeks ago. At first I was taking it easy and only doing about 5 minutes at a time, but I have increased to 30min. This week I started my period and it is about 10 days early. I have been bleeding for 7 days now. My periods usually only last 4-5 days and are very light. This time I am bleeding pretty heavily. I know I should probably go to the doctor but I have no insurance. Any ideas what could be wrong. Could it be the excercise?

sometimes that happens because when you exercise your hormones get kinda confused on what there suppose to do because everything in your body is changeing everything should be just fine you will probably get it next month when your body is more adapted to your new routine

I'm wondering if your metabolism picked up and affected your hormones?
Since I don't know how old you are, it could be several things. In my case, my body started doing the same exact thing. This was about 6 months after I had my youngest daughter. After some testing, the doctor determined that I was peri-menopausal even though I was only 35 at the time.
Having no health insurance, I would look up community resources for women's health clinics that take patients and offer reduced/free healthcare. (I know Planned Parenthood does this but I'm not too crazy about them.)
They ended up putting me on a low-dose pill, Yasmin, and my periods are much better now.

Hope this helps,
Mon :-)

Your body is in shock and getting adjusted to your new healthy activity. One girl I trained was overweight and doctors told her she couldn't have kids. She started eating right and excercising and got pregnant. Her body got healthy and all the woman processes started working right.

you should go to a free womens clinic. Make sure you are taken in a lot of iron too since the heavy bleeding could cause you to become anemic.

i doubt it, but there's always a chance. talk to your doctor. it may just be getting longer, you know, the length of your period.
