Someone who is mentally unable to take care of themselves.

An insane person? Isnt this all about semantics? Wouldnt you consider working in the same cubicle for 25 years at the end of which you move to a retirement center and hope to die before suffering the indignity of not bieng to make it to the toilet in time insane? Defining insanity is all about your perspective.

an unstable person is about to go insane any minute, but is not prepared to handle their insanity.
an insane person has passed their point of instability, and is constant in their insanity.
