recently my grandpa passed away (as in the past week) leaving my cousin and I gas wells in Oklahoma..we were very close but never had he even mention that he owned them (why would he tell is 20 yearold granddaughter?) i'm not entirely sure what i'm now supposed to do? i'm not even sure if they are active or inactive or if i own just mineral rights or what...i'll talk to my grandma more at a later date to find the current status of them but for now i'm basically just looking for someone to kinda explain to a layperson how this whole thing works.... with his passing so recent i feel it would be indecent to discuss business with my grandma so i'm just looking for some general knowledge.. just curiousity... thanks

You can probably get some help from the Oklahoma Energy Resource Board at www.oerb.com

Did he leave a will? How did you find out you got the gas wells? You can probably call the county courthouse and ask for information on what company is doing the drilling or whatever and from that get their phone #. They can give you more info.

It's a shame you didn't keep in touch with grandpa and learn from him.
