They said he was a controlling jacka$$...but I think insurance. People have woken up from comas and such after decades, so you never know. I wouldn't want to live in that state, but if it made my parents happy- I'd definitely want that more than anything.
I have heard an interview w/one of her nurses, she said he was EXTREMELY rude to the staff, demanding, and controlling. She also said that almost immediately after--he brought his new girlfriend in and pointed to Terri and said, "See look at her, she is useless" or something to that effect. He should have just let her parents have her.

The really troubling question about that whole sorry episode is - Why did the Bush regime get so involved in a personal family crisis?
Does the institution of government exist so that a fundie president can impose his religious prejudices on the rest of us?
If Terri Schiavo was truly married, did she or did she not commit herself and her wellbeing to her husband in sickness and in health, until death do us part? What gives the government some kind of right to force its way into a marriage contract?
That sordid affair had an effect on me. I told my doctor that I never want to be another Terri Schiavo. So I filled out written instructions for dealing with end of life issues, and made sure that copies are on file with my doctors, with my friends and with a lawyer.

Terri had asked for Micheal to make sure she did not live like a vegetable or in a comma. He was keeping his promise to her. He loved her that much. The money everyone was talking about was a trust fund set up for her from donations. Due to the length and extensive care she required, it was pretty much used up. The decision her parents wanted to make is the same as Anna Nicole's. Where would she be buried. It simply was no longer their choice. I don't think anyone would say that anyone outside of a married couple should be able to make the decision of where they should be buried. That would equate to you being married and your husband dies and his family steps in to tell you where to bury him.

He was doing the right thing....her parents were wrong morally, legally, ethically and any other way you care to look at it. The woman had almost no brain left. Death was a blessing.

It was about money.
The more important thing we should have learn from this case is to have a living will so all your love one's know your wishes.

Good question ; but we can't answer that unless we walked in his shoes . Maybe he did not want to see his wife live on in that shape as a vegetable ; or maybe he followed her wishes .
