...friends that I hang around with; mainly, they're just friends of Kailey's that I will hang with to be near her. My problem is these "friends." They're nice. They're funny. They're, to say in the least, normal. So where's the issue, right? Well, as a crowd in school that considers "ourselves" neither cool nor uncool, we (er, they) tend to keep themselves strict on their conversations. At lunch, we'll all sit together. (Me, Jamie, Jenna, Isabella, Blithe, and Kailey.) And some others. When we go to talk, I have learned to shut up; I have personality. I'm spunky, and I have some strange thoughts, but they make people laugh. Well, most people, anyway. They look at me weird and go on talking, or they say something like, "Uh, not really," or "Uh, yeah, anyway." And a lot of times, Jamie, who is one of Kailey's closer friends, will interrupt me when I'm talking and she and Kailey will talk instead. =[

SOS for a neglected, taken-for-granted w/low self esteem girl. =(

Also, I'm not saying they're bad friends. I just feel neglected. I talk to Kailey about it sometimes, but she doesn't understand and thinks I'm trying to be selfish over her.

If you really want to keep the friendship with these girls, it would be best to initiate some ideas to do that you can control. Invite your friends to your house for a over night party. You can also invite them to an amusement park and make an arrangement to have your parent to take you. Invite them to the beach for a potluck meal. Buy tickets to a concert.

When they are in your home do as much as talking with them. Always tried to lead the subject in your favorite. In your parent's car to the amusement park, or potluck or concert. Again take control of the conversation with your friends.

Also try to draw very close to each girl separately by learning their interest. If one or some of the girls attends church, invite them to yours and then go to theirs. If one of the girl uses a particular hair stylist, ask can you use the same hair stylist do your hair and you both go their together. Study their ways and learn to adopt to it. You may want to invite them to your home for Easter. Always put yourself in the position where you have the main control of the conversation.

Sometimes it is best to step back and look at your friends. You must question yourself if it is worth being treated in a manner you don't appreciate? Most of all keep them in your prayers.

God Bless

Well, I'd say, if it were me, that I would be thinking that someone doesn't want me in that group but doesn't have the guts to say so. Also I'd be wondering about how much of a friend this Kailey really is, if she treats you like that.

you obviously do not need to be treated like this.

easy answer would be to say get some new friends. but esp. as a girl it is so hard. you just keep getting sucked back in.

i would try to find some new people to sit with...and if you are feeling really gutsy tell your friend how you feel, but i know that is so hard to do.

there isn't exactly a question in this but i get where your going. if you think that the 'group' is pushing you out then tell Kaille that and mabye she can resolve it or you can start to hang out with some other people and mabye Kaille will get the hint.

Tell them how you feel. Tell them that you have a personality and that sticking with those stupid conversations makes you feel like you aren't their friend.
