I love both sports, but hockey is easily the rougher of the two. Hockey players skate faster than football players run. Football players don't have to worry about having their face smashed in the boards.(Unless it's arena)

When hockey players are knocked down, they hit a harder surface (ice) than football players, who deal with grass and/or turf.

Oh, and when you're playing hockey, look out for the hard rubber thing that flies around, sometimes at over 100 MPH.

So there's no question in my mind that hockey is rougher.

This is a hard one. Hockey is more endurance related while in football you need resistance and power. Hockey you have a better chance of getting seriously hurt ( happens more often whether football fans want to believe it or not ), but in football you get pounded to the ground a lot. Football is once a week, hockey is usually 3+ games a week, and you travel ALL the time. That being said, I would have to say hockey just because of how much more grueling it is, and you get hit at what, 40+ miles an hour into a solid surface? Plus you have to constantly block 90 mph pucks. That being said, I think football is an EXTREMELY tough and dangerous sport, but under the circumstances hockey wins by a twinge. It may seem "finesse" to people who don't watch and understand it, but it's a lot tougher than it looks.

Hockey is a lot harder than football. You have players in hockey going up to 40. They are consantly moving and hitting. The goalie has to have lightning fast reflexes and the team trust is much stronger. Like the between the legs pass from zetturburg to datsyuk when the wings played the stars

It depends on your position. RBs are tackled almost every single play by 350+ pound monsters every play. In hockey, you dont always fight or get involved in checking wars.
