Why do so many of us get hooked on these sites?

I think it is because of the anonimity.

I have had a yahoo account off and on for years and today I inadvertantly clicked on something and have been virtually stuck here for four hours unable to move. I have a life and things to do but here I am. I do that stuff later when normal people are sleeping, I guess. If I am not still here that is.

I am traveling for work for the next 2 weeks and I am bored silly. Yeah, that's it.

I am a reasonably sane person but this is just crazy.

Anonymity is a big part of it and I think of it of as a little bit of interaction with no commitment. I can come here at any time and can leave at any time. Answer what interests me and skip what does not. It must serve some inner need within us or we would not continue to do it.

anonimity is one, people feel more comfortable asking questions and expressing how they feel...

another reason could be that we feel a sense of helping another if they have a problem; we might learn more from each other by asking a question and getting alot of different perspectives.

its also addicting because getting points motivates people;people are competitive and want to be picked for the "best answered."

Yeah I became that way when I discovered youtube. Its my favorite website.

Its way cool You can ask dumb questions, good questions..
Honestly some of the questions I asked about gardening and other things I got awesome answers.
But ya I spend lots of "my" time on this! Its fun.. Dunno what i am gonna do with all my points!!!
