As important to hitting the high notes as the lips are, don't forget the cheeks. I'm a trombone player, and I know that to get into the higher range, I have to flex my cheeks as well as my lips. The smaller mouthpeice of a trumpet/cornet might not depend as much on the cheeks, but it's worth a shot.

My Dad played the saxophone, and he said the only way to improve is to practise. There aren't any shortcuts.
But you are obviously a dedicated musician, and an 8 yr veteran of the trumpet, so I can see you conquering the cornet.

i'm not in marching band yet i'm in regualar band. Guitar, Alto Sax, Piano, Drums, and Bells yet extra often than not Alto. we went to Carnegie corridor to accomplish and my pals and that i've got been given to flow see The Little Mermaid and between the human beings incredibly much fell off the degree.

I don't have any experience playing either of those instruments, but for just about anything the only way that you can get better is to keep practicing.
