My girlfriend was just prescribed birth control to regulate her periods. The medication says that you should wait until your next period to start, the problem is her next period probably won't be for another 6 months. What should she do? This is the first time she's been on birth control pills.

I was prescribed birth control to regulate my periods too. My doctor told me that I could either wait till my next period or I could just start taking them, and they would still regulate my period.

If her doctor prescribed her the pills for regulation, then the doctor should have instructed her when to start the pills as well. I would have her call the doctor that gave her the prescription back for in depth instructions. I have to say that I'm as well on birth control pills for regulation and it really works...just make sure she does it the right way...for sure call!

Your girlfriend should ask her doctor 'when' to start taking the pills to 'regulate' her periods. He knows 'what is prescribed' and how your girlfriend should 'take the pills' ... so tell her to go back to her doctor and ASK.

Yes, ask the doctor.

Otherwise just start the pack at the beginning (e.g. on sunday) and just go. Her periods will even out eventually

She can start today, or anytime she wants, since she is not having a period.
