why do people refer to gay as "them or they"?

i never hear people say "them" or "they" about straight people? ITS THE SAME THING!!!

they (the straights) are just generalizing when they say that!

Asked like a true Heideggerian.
Gramatically, it's correct to use the third person plural pronoun in referring to any group of which one isn't a part. Do you never hear gays refer to straights as "they" or "them"?

its just how people adress minority. even asian or balck people, the normally refer it as you people or they or them.
