first you must consider that what you see is two-demensional image of a three demensional person. An image that can be altered. Then take into account that they are in make up, have lighting, ect.
I say all the time that I meet women at Wal-mart that are way hotter than any women on TV.

Most aren't ugly but they do have cosmetic makeup, lighting, porcelian veneers(fake teeth), and a lot have hair plugs/wigs. A lot of men in tinsel town are chemically enhanced with anabolic steroids and human growth hormone. Hollywood wants their celebrities to look emaculate on paper and on the screen. They have lots of "tricks of the trade" I.E. airbrushing definition onto the abdominals of men. Digital manipulation of people in all sorts of mediums.

no they pick people that are attractive. Some aren't and they play those unattractive roles all the time.

its the 3 tons of make up, and post picture touch ups (air brush, photo shop) that make them look so perfect.
If you saw the average star walking down the street, they wouldnt look ANYTHING like their big screen persona.
