Hmm, so if the normal full oil capacity is 5 quarts, you actually had 15 quarts in the engine - I really don't think so... I think you would probably be blowing it out the PCV valve and other places. And the crankshaft and rods would be slapping oil around in the pan and that would rob power. Overfilling can cause oil foaming and leaks
If your Check Engine light came on then you need to take it to the dealer and have the code read to find out what's really going on...

Too much oil could be a bad thing. For one, it could overpressurize your oil tank. That pressure could force oil across seals and gaskets, springing leaks everywhere. Worse, if the oil level is high enough that oil is near the crankshaft, it will be whipped into a foam. An auto's oil pump cannot supply foamed oil, so engine components that require lubrication will be starved of oil, your engine will overheat, and you'll basically be in big trouble.
A little bit over is no worry, but you should probably drain a quart or so and re-measure when your engine is cold. Try to keep it between the lines.

You need to drain the extra out. It will cause the seals to blow out in your engine. That will be a very costly repair. I don't know if it will cause an engine light to come on, but maybe so.
