I'm horribly bad at knowing what goes well with what. I don't really accesorize that much, i at least want to start wearing different kinds of earrings. The ones i have are silver. I've seen cool chunky colored hoops, and others with colored stones and such, but i don't know if they have to be the same color as my top or what! or if it depends on what kind of top i'm wearing, or my whole outfit for that matter.
(I'm 25, olive skin, brown hair, brown eyes)
Any advise you got, suggestions, or if there are certain 'rules' to it, let me know.
Thanks!

You don't want to OVER match your oufit because you want to look like, "Hey, I woke up this beautiful". At the same time, you want to look put together. If you are wearing an exiting top, wear classic earings. If you are wearing a mundane top, use your earings to draw attention to yourself. Olive skin and brown eyes look great with a deep green and blue. Light colors are okay, but deep colors will set off your eyes and skin. Also, earings don't make or break an outfit. Learn to shine from within. Wait! I'm sure you allready do
Peace

there are really NO RULES for accessorizing. i love silver hoop earings because they go well with simple outfit. when wearing one of those hoop earings dont wear twice as big as your ears 'coz they would just look hideous. My suggestion is wear silver, summery colored earings in the summer spring and silvery gold earings in the winter fall because I think it's easier that way especially in your case when you said you're not good at what coloured earings should go with you're outfit.
the colour of your outfit don't have to match the colour of your earings. Wearing earings also depend on what kind of outfit your wearing and it makes sense because YOU SHOULD NOT WEAR PLASTIC EARINGS when you're wearing a dressy outfit.
When I buy earings i usually buy the ones that would mostly match with what I have so I wouldn't end up spending lots of money on earings.
Like I said there arent any rules for accessorizing. With your skin tone though silver would go really well. But if you want to try different kind of earings think about what you have in your closet that would match and how many different outfit it would match. Go simple with earings especially when you're not sure if it fits your outfit.
If i think too much on what goes with which, id have a dilemma. so i just go with what my instincts say.

Just try stuff on. You can match it or use complimentary colors or go with something basic, like red stones with black clothes or pink with a t that has a bit of pink in it. Try laying the earrings against the clothes in store and see how it would look, because there is a certain amount of personal taste involved.

Here are 2 articles about determining your face shape and choosing flattering earrings for each shape: http://www.filly.ca/taste_and_style/wear_it_with_style/accessories/Lobe-Laws.asp
http://www.jsbeads.com/Articles/Designing_Jewelry_BS_FS/faceshape.asp
Generally, gold is more flattering against warm skin tones while silver is best against cool skin tones.
Metallic jewelry and pearls co-ordinate easily & are almost like working w/ neutrals in a wardrobe.
Colored glass, gemstones, and beads should contrast with or complement your outfit. For example, you might want to wear a brown topaz pendant against a green blouse. It's a bit trickier to complement an outfit w/ jewelry without it looking too matchy. One example might be wearing turquoise jewelry against a deep navy sweater.
Hope this helps!

hmm, if ur wearing red, blue, green,, etc. then personally I think its best u match the earrings with ur shirt...if ur wearing a t-shirt and sweater on top then match the earrings with the t-shirt still...
as for black and white clothes...silver, black, white earrings go nice with that...
there aren't rlly any specific rules for accesorizing, hehe, atleast I dont think so...its rlly about ur own peronal style, and u can probably mix many colours, just luk at ur whole outfit and see wat u think luks nice...
