Because the issue isn't whether any laws were broken.
The issue is whether Gonzales violated his oath of office, and/or violated the ethical requirements for attorneys, by engaging in unethical or improper behavior. Or whether he was (as he seems to claim) simply so out of the loop that he didn't realize 8 USAttys had been fired.
The target of the investigation is the AG, who may be removed from office for things other than illegal action.
And had the Justice Department not just been hit with two other significant scandals, I doubt the firings would have attracted much attention. It's the cumulative effect that gives rize to the question (QUESTION, TBD) of whether Gonzales is fit to remain in his office.

The democracts haven't gotten over the fact. That all the money that was spent to defeat Bush in 04, he was reelected. Yes, the party for the "working" person is backed by very wealthy people. Hollywood and a billionaire, I believe the spelling is Sorus. He spent 10 million of his own money. Read beyond the news stories and think for yourself. I borrowed a book from the public library system, only one copy in a 3 county region? It was "Do as I say, not as I do" It will wake you up to the hypocrisy. Oh, Clinton fired all the US attorneys during his tenure, where is the out cry when that took place?

The HIPOCRACY here astounds me.Of course we are talking about republicans doing what they do best.Bush and all his clonies has done so many things that should be investigated , we don't have enough time or money to do it, and my battery is going dead.

I think the problem is that Gonzalez lied to the Congress for some reason. That makes people suspicious. What you say is absolutely true so why did he lie to them? Besides, libs are only against wasting money if they agree with why it's being wasted.

I guess for the same reason congress held hearings to find out if Clinton had oral sex with monica. Granted, he lied during those hearings, but the real reason they subpeonaed Clinton is because they wanted to know about the sex thing.
Did you ask congress then why they were wasting your money? Probably not.

Your tax dollars are going to Iraq. My tax dollars are being used to find out why Gonzales found it necessary to lie.

1) Democrats love to spend tax money, it's what they do.
2) Their irrational hatred for President Bush doesn't allow for the possibility that there are no crimes.

You should phone Congress and the President to clue them in.
All these legal scholars, senators, and representatives had to do was just ask you?!?
I know they're going to feel really stupid when you let em know.
