What does it mean if starting a few months ago the shower in my bathroom has been really noisy. It's this mildly high pitched sort of metallic wooshing sound whenever the shower is in use. But if I have the water come through the faucet for the tub it's quiet. If I lower the pressure for the shower it goes away, but OTHER people are too stupid to do that. Is there anything I can do to fix it myself?

Sals right, but most shower heads are a real cheap fixture, 25.00 you can get an adjustable rainsoft type shower head, they are real nice, work great and look great too, the only tools you will need is two pairs of channel locks and some teflon tape.

If you have access to the panel behind the shower wall check and see if the support brackets for the shower pipe are tight to the wall , if they are loose they may be causing a vibration when the pressure is high.

Start by replacing or cleaning the shower head, if still noisey the diverter piece may need cleaning or a repair.
