Are women allowed to be funny?

After reading articles about the dominance of men in the comedic department, I've come to realize that women are beginning to bloom as comedians as well. Women like Ellen or Margaret have taken over the stage with their performances about feminine issues, politics, the male population, etc. But are their skits as funny as their male competitors? Are women just as good as the men on the comedic stage?

In a recent Vanity Fair issue, the author wrote that a male dominates comedy over women because that's how they get the woman to fall in love with them and allow them procreation. Is this really true?

I think women are actually funnier sometimes. It really all depends on the comedian. I man probably wrote the article in Vanity Fair about men being the dominates in comedy.

I would like to think so. I mean, really, what's more charming than a woman with a sense of humor? I actually think that the female comedics are the best ones; the Cho'ster rocks my world! She cracks me up!

And what vanity fair said... yeah... that applies to ugly guys. Handsome men don't really need to be funny.

Women have the right to be funny.

They tend to lack the ABILITY to be funny.

A typically, the prettier a woman, the less funny she is. My current theory is that men spend so much time trying to impress her and seem funny to her, that she has little need to ever develop the wit/timing/ability to actually be funny on any consistent basis.

Now, i am not saying unattractive women are funny, they just have a better shot at being funny. Because not nearly as many men tripping over themselves to impress them.
