Take him to an aquarium store...or if you have to a pet store. If he is very large...the pet stores may not want him because they are harder to sell. But aquarium shops will generally take any fish they have room for. The best bet would be to call around to the nearest one and ask them if they will take him off your hands before you go driving around with him bagged up looking for a place.

Talk to the people at your local fish store, not Walmart, Petsmart or Petco but a true fish store. Ask them if they have regular customers who buy feeder fish for their oscars and see if they will have them pass your name and possibly your phone number on to them. That way it will go to someone who is already has oscars and knows (hopefully) how to care for them.
Don't take him back to a petstore like the ones I mentioned above. They most likely won't take him (since he is big) and if they do, they will probably destroy him rather than put him back in their tanks and risk introducing a disease into their system. Of course, most Walmarts I've ever been in already had about every fish disease known to man in their tanks. Worst place in the world to buy fish (my opinion only). You may be able to give him to a true fish store for credit toward purchases. Even if they won't give you credit, at least you will know he will be taken care of.
And for the person that said to stick it in any local body of water, that is the absolute worst thing you can do. When you introduce a non-native species into a lake, pond or river, you can destroy the entire Eco-system. Look at the problems that have been caused by the snakehead fish. If could also lead to a substantial fine if caught. Just check out the links below to see some of the problems that these fish have caused.

You might try posting an ad on petshop bulletin boards. Often too, newspapers will advertise things that are being given away for free, without charging for the ad. The local humane society may also have a bulletin board where you could post. There are also many pet forums online where you can post too. Hopefully you can find someone local to take him, where you can check on the facilities that person has to make sure they are suitable.

Just a shot in the dark, but try your local veterinarians. They know their customers well and should know if there are any fish lovers. Maybe they will know of someone that will take the Oscar. Good luck and thank you for wanting to find a home for him. A lot of people would just flush him down the toilet. Bless you. P>S> Most of them also have bulletin boards where you can post ads for free.

Oscars are a dime a dozen, and most who by them prefer them small so they can pretend the fish won't grow beyond the size of its tank. It isn't always easy to get rid of them once they've grown.
Your options are the local newspaper, websites like craigslist, or the trading forum on a website like www.cichlid-forum.com, or trying to trade back to the fish store for credit, hopefully this time for something that won't outgrow the tank.

Put an ad up on petfinder.org and also craigslist.com, I'm sure you'll have a taker. You could also post ads in local vet offices or aquarium supply stores.
