That is actually a Hardy English Primrose. The leaves give it away. It is a perennial plant that likes partial shade and plenty of moisture. It will come back every year in the spring.

nicely....... i'm a woman, so for a guy i might in all risk do... eaither lilac, lily-of-the-valley, or.... no clue! haha i think it would be counted on his character. and for me....... i might like a bigggggggg buquet of any plant existence.

its a type of pansy. There are hundreds of different color combinations, but they are almost all, patterned in the center, solid color on the outside, and the "squarish shaped" petals.
My girlfriend votes "African Violet", but admits it could be a type of pansy also.
