The first professional portrait I ever took was of a friend from high school's daughter. She had problems with her eyes which prevented her from going out in the sunlight or being in bright light in any form. She had to have aluminum foil taped over her windows, and was confined to her room during the daytime. If she had to go outside during the day, she had to cover her eyes with dark patches like a pirate would wear....blinded to the world around her.

Needless to say, nobody saw her icy blue eyes very often....at least not in photographs which would require a bright flash of light!

I used ISO 6400 infrared film, and went into her bedroom with a small night light plugged into an extension cord. Placing it by her head, she squinted at first. When her eyes adjusted, she smiled at me and looked deep into the camera's lens.

That priceless photo graces the front of my business cards to this very day. Even though that little five year old face now belongs to a senior in high school.

I took a 3d pair of photos of a building with mirror windows. I have taken better photos, but not in 3d. I have quite a few 3d photos of my mother's yard after I did some creative landscaping. Some of them are on my website:

It is a picture I took of my son when he was well and happy. It captured the essense of who he he really is, the love, playful nature and kindness in his eyes. When I feel like I cant take whats happpening to him now I look at it and it reminds me that I have to keep on fighting, for him and for me.
